Bobcat Baseball Noted in Final NAIA Poll
(Peru, Neb.) – After concluding one of the most successful seasons in Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat
baseball history, the ‘Cats did find themselves among the teams receiving votes in the final NAIA
Baseball Top 25 Postseason Poll.
While finishing in a tie for 37th with several teams with one (one) vote, it was a little bit of a
disappointment having gone two and two in the opening round of the national tournament and finishing
with a 37-18 record. In the final poll at the end of the regular season, PSC had received eight (8) votes.
After winning its first-ever national championship, Tennessee Wesleyan received the program's first No.
1 ranking in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Postseason Top 25 Poll, announced on Tuesday by the national
office. The Bulldogs, who were previously winless at the Avista-NAIA World Series, scored five runs in
the bottom of the eighth to earn a 10-6 victory over Rogers State (Okla.) on June 1 to take home the
LSU-Shreveport and Lyndsay Wilson College (Ky.), teams which beat the Bobcats in the regional, finished
third and 14th respectively in the final polls. Bellevue University, which Peru beat in the regionals,
finished with 49 points, which would be 29th overall. Grand View University (Iowa), the other team PSC
beat in the regional, earned one (1) vote like the Bobcats.
The only other Heart of America Athletic Conference team to earn points in the final poll was Avila
University (Mo.). The Eagles were ranked just ahead of Bellevue with 60 points.
