AUBURN TAKES THIRD IN BOTH CONSOLATION MATCHUPS

           THE 2012 BULLDOG HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT WAS HELD THIS PAST WEEKEND AT AUBURN HIGH SCHOOL AND SATURDAYS CONSOLATION AND CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES SAW GREAT ACTION.

 

SYRACUSE FALLS SHORT IN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AGAINST THUNDERBIRDS

 

             THE BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME PITTED HEIGHT VERSES SPEED AS THE JOHNSON COUNTY CENTRAL NIPPED THE SYRACUSE ROCKETS 36 TO 33 IN A GAME THAT SAW THE ROCKETS UP FOR MOST OF THE GAME.

 

              NICK HERMAN CAME AWAY WITH THE HICKORY ROAD BBQ PLAYER OF THE GAME AS HE HAD 15 POINTS 3 REBOUNDS AND A STEAL IN THE LOSS FOR THE ROCKETS.

 

              THE TOURNAMENT MVP WAS THUNDERBIRD FORWARD NATE KEEL WHO AT 6’8 WAS ABLE TO FOLLOW UP A 25 POINT 15 REBOUND PERFORMANCE ON FRIDAY NIGHT AGAINST AUBURN TO SCORE 16 POINTS ON 6 OF 10 FROM THE FREE THROW LINE AND GRABBED 6 REBOUNDS IN THE WIN.

 

              THE LOSS DROPS SYRACUSE TO 3-6 WHILE JCC WITH THE WIN IMPROVES TO 7 AND 1.

 

 

SYRACUSE GIRLS WIN BULLDOG CHAMPIONSHIP OVER JCC

 

              IN THE GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, THE SYRACUSE ROCKETS USED A LITTLE BIT OF A RUN TOWARDS THE END OF THE THIRD QUARTER OUTSCORING THE THUNDERBIRDS 16 TO 8 IN THE FRAME ON THEIR WAY TO A 54 TO 40 WIN.

 

              SYRACUSE WAS PACED IN SCORING BY JUNIORS JULIA REED AND OUR HICKORY ROAD BBQ PLAYER OF THE GAME ALI BRINKMAN WHO SCORED TEN POINTS A PIECE FOR THE ROCKETS. SYRACUSE ALSO GOT EIGHT FROM MAGGIE DETTMER, SEVEN FROM PAIGE KAPPERMAN, AND SIX FROM SYDNEY LITNER.

 

              THE WIN GETS THE ROCKETS BACK ABOVE .500 AT 5-4 WHILE FOR JOHNSON COUNTY CENTRAL THEY DROP TO 2 AND 6.

  

 

AUBURN SWEEPS CONSOLATION GAMES

 

              IN THE BOYS CONSOLATION GAME THE AUBURN BULLDOGS WERE PACED BY 5 THREES FROM SOPHOMORE PATRICK FRARY AS AUBURN GETS THEIR FIRST VICTORY OF THE YEAR 46 TO 40 OVER LOURDES CENTRAL CATHOLIC.

 

              THE KNIGHTS WERE PACED IN SCORING BY AARON MILLER WITH 16 POINTS AND 6 REBOUNDS.

 

              AND AFTER LETTING AN 11 POINT HALFTIME LEAD VANISH THE AUBURN BULLDOGS WERE ABLE TO PULL OUT A THIRD PLACE FINISH AT THE TOURNAMENT WINNING 37 TO 34 IN OVERTIME OVER THE LOURDE CENTRAL CATHOLIC KNIGHTS.

 

              TIERRA WILLIAMS SCORED 14 POINTS OFF THE BENCH FOR AUBURN INCLUDING A FIELD GOAL WITH 4.7 SECONDS LEFT IN REGULATION TO FORCE OVERTIME.

 

              KIM OSOVSKI LEAD THE KNIGHTS IN SCORING WITH 17 POINTS.
