WATERMEIER SAYS HE WILL ISSUE A LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION ABOUT THE STUDY

             THE FIRST DISTRICT STATE SENATOR OF NEBRASKA SAYS HE PLANS TO INTRODUCE LEGISLATION COMPOSED BY A CITY OFFICIAL OF NEBRASKA CITY THAT WILL STUDY THE MISSOURI RIVER AS A MARINE HIGHWAY.

 

              IN AN INTERVIEW WITH KNCY NEWS, SENATOR DAN WATERMEIER OF SYRACUSE SAYS SINCE HE READ THE PROPOSED LEGISLATION, AUTHORED BY CITY ADMINSTRATOR JOE JOHNSON, HE HAS BEEN COORDINATING WITH THE ARMY CORP OF ENGINNERS AS WELL AS THE NEBRASKA DEPARTMENT OF ROADS TO SEE WHO EXACTLY NEEDS TO BE APART OF THE STUDY PROCESS.

 

              WATERMEIER SAYS HE PLANS TO INTRODUCE A LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION REGARDING THE MARINE HIGHWAY STUDY IN THE UPCOMING LEGISLATIVE SESSION.

              IN THE PROPOSED LEGISLATION OBTAINED BY KNCY NEWS, THE STUDY WILL LOOK AT THINGS SUCH AS DEVELOPING A MINIMUM MISSOURI RIVER DEPTH FOR BARGE TRAFFIC, THE IMPACT OF A MARINE HIGHWAY ON FLOOD MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL, THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MULTIMODAL TRANSPORTATION CENTER AND MORE.

 

              THE 2014 NEBRASKA LEGISLATIVE SESSION IS SET TO BEGIN ON WEDNESDAY JANUARY 8TH.
