PERU STATE, CITY OF AUBURN, AND SEVERAL OTHERS NAMED IN SUIT

             THE MOTHER OF A MISSING PERU STATE COLLEGE STUDENT TY THOMAS FILED A LAWSUIT AGAINST THE COLLEGE AND OTHERS IN NEMAHA COUNTY AND US DISTRICT COURT ON THE TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF HER DISSAPERANCE.

 

              LATANYA THOMAS FILED A SUIT ON MONDAY AGAINST PERU STATE COLLEGE, THE CITY OF AUBURN, NEMAHA COUNTY, THE STATE OF NEBRASKA, NEBRASKA STATE COLLEGE BOARD, NEBRASKA BOARD OF REGENTS, THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA, AND JOSHUA KEADLE IN REGARDS TO THE DEATH OF HER DAUGHTER, SAYING THEY KNOW SHE IS DEAD BECAUSE SHE WOULD OF CALLED HER FRIENDS OR FAMILY.

 

              KEADLE, WHO IS CURRENTLY SERVING A 15 TO 20 YEAR PRISON SENTENCE AT THE LINCOLN CORRECTIONAL CENTER FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A 15 YEAR OLD GIRL IN 2008, IS BELIEVED TO BE THE LAST PERSON WHO SAW THOMAS ON DECEMBER 3RD.

 

              THOMAS’S ATTOURNEY TIMOTHY ASHFORD OF OMAHA SAID THE FAMILY IS LOOKING FOR THOMAS'S STUDENT LOAN DEBT OF $1,640 TO BE PAID OFF AND ARE LOOKING FOR OTHER COMPENSATION.

 

              IN THE LAWSUIT, ASHFORD SAID THE COLLEGE HAD BEEN GEGLIGENT FOR FAILING TO SEPARATE YOUNG FEMALE STUDENTS FROM OLDER MALE STUDENTS WITH RECORDS LIKE KEADLE'S, FAILING TO ADEQUATELY INVESTIGATE HIS BACKGROUND AND FAILING TO TAKE REASONALBE SECURITY MEASURES- INCLUDING HIRING AND TRAINING SECURITY PERSONNEL TO RESPOND TO CRIMINAL ATTACKS ON CAMPUS AND IN THE SURROUNDING AREA.

        

             THE FAMILY IS DEMANDING A JURY TRIAL IN THE CASE.
