COUNTY WIDE COVERAGE TO BEGIN ON JANUARY 1ST

 

              THE DECISION IS FINAL, THE AUBURN POLICE DEPARTMENT IS BEING DISSOLVED, AND THE NEMAHA COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE WILL BE IN CHARGE OF PROTECTING THE CITIZENS OF AUBURN.

 

              THE DECISION WAS MADE OFFICIAL WEDNESDAY MORNING DURING THE NEMAHA COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEETING, WHICH AGREED TO ADOPT AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND THE CITY.

              ON MONDAY, THE AUBURN CITY COUNCIL APPROVED A CONTRACT WITH THE NEMAHA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE BY A VOTE OF 4-2.

 

              NEMAHA COUNTY’S FORCE WILL NOW ADD THE THREE CURRENT AUBURN COPS AND WILL HIRE AN ADDITIONAL OFFICER TO BRING THE NUMBER OF OFFICERS TO 10.

 

              AUBURN NOW JOINS THE LIKES OF SYRACUSE AND TECHUMSEH AS TOWNS WHO HAVE SWITCHED TO THE COUNTY WIDE OPTION.

             

              THE COUNTY WIDE COVERAGE WILL OFFICIALLY BEING IN AUBURN ON JANUARY 1ST.
