FOUR FATAL CRASHES HAVE HAPPENED AT INTERSECTION IN PAST DECADE

            ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS INTERSECTIONS IN SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA IS SCHEDULED TO HAVE MAJOR ROADWORK DONE HERE IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS.

 

              THE NEBRASKA DEPARTMENT OF ROADS HAS A PROPOSED PROJECT IN PLACE TO WORK ON MAKING THE INTERSECTION OF HIGHWAY 75 AND HIGHWAY TWO IN NEBRASKA CITY SAFER FOR DRIVERS.

 

              ACCORDING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ROADS COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR MARY JO OIE THERE HAVE BEEN FOUR FATAL CRASHES IN THE LAST DECADE WITH THE MOST RECENT FATALITY HAPPENING JUST LAST MONTH.

 

              ACCORDING TO OIE THE PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO GET UNDERWAY IN THE NEXT THREE YEARS OR SO.

              SHE SAYS THE PROJECT WILL COST THE STATE ROUGHLY 20 POINT 5 MILLION DOLLARS AND IT WILL TAKE UP TO TWO YEARS TO COMPLETE.

 

              OIE SAYS IN THE MEANTIME DRIVERS WHO REFREQUENTLY DRIVE BY THE INTERSECTION ARE URGED TO USE EXTRA CAUTION.
