UTILITY COMPANY WILL NOW BILL FOR TRASH SERVICE INSTEAD OF SANATATION CO

By Nate Gonner 10/15/2013

AUBURN RESIDENTS WILL HAVE A SMALL CHANGE IN HOW THEIR TRASH SERVICE WILL BE BILLED FROM NOW ON.

AT MONDAY NIGHT’S CITY COUNCIL MEETING, THE COUNCIL AGREED TO ALLOW THE TOWN'S UTILITY COMPANY TO CHARGE FOR THE SERVICE, RATHER THAN THE TOWN'S SANITATION COMPANY AMERICAN RECYCLING AND SANATATION.

MAYOR SCOTT KUDRNA SAYS THE TOWN HAS AN ORDINANCE SAYING AN RESIDENT LIVING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS MUST HAVE TRASH SERVICE, AND USED TO HAVE POLICE ENFORCE THE ORDINANCE.

KUDRNA SAYS WITH TRASH BILLING MOVING TO THE UTILITY, IT TAKES THE ENFORCEMENT OFF THE NEMAHA COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE.

THE COUNCIL ALSO APPROVED A LIQUOR LICENCE FOR BOWLDOG ALLEY LLC, APPROVED A BUSINESS AGREEMENT WITH THE HARRY A KOCH COMPANY FOR CITY INSURANCE, APPROVED SEVERAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT REQUESTS, AND APPROVED WATER AND SEWER LIENS FOR VACANT HOMES WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS.

THE NEXT MEETING OF THE AUBURN CITY COUNCIL IS SET TO MEET MONDAY NOVEMBER 11TH BEGINNING AT 7 O’CLOCK OUT AT CITY HALL.
