NEBRASKA CITY TO HOST THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR THREE YEARS

              A WIDELY POPULAR COMPETITION FROM THE 1920’S WILL BE BRINGING ITS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TO NEBRASKA CITY NEXT YEAR.

 

              ACCORDING TO NEBRASKA CITY TOURISM AND COMMERCE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TIM PENDRELL, NEBRASKA CITY HAS WON THE BID TO HOST THE NEBRASKA CORNHUSKING CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS.

 

              THE FIRST CORNHUSKING CHAMPIONSHIP WAS HELD IN THE STATE BACK IN 1924, WITH EVENTS DRAWING OVER 100 THOUSAND PEOPLE DURING THE EVENTS MOST POPULAR PERIOD IN THE 1930’S.

 

              PENDRELL IS LOOKING FORWARD TO BRINGING THE LONG TIME RUNNING EVENT TO TOWN.

              THE 2014 EDITION OF THE NEBRASKA STATE CORNHUSKING CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BE 90TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EVENT.
