NEBRASKA CITY UTILITIES WILL PAY TO PICK UP YOUR OLD FRIDGE

CUSTOMERS WITH NEBRASKA CITY UTILITIES HAVE A CHANCE TO MAKE SOME MONEY OFF THEIR OLD REFRIDGERATORS.

NEBRASKA CITY UTILITIES IS TEAMING UP WITH THE MUNICIPAL ENERGY AGENCY OF NEBRASKA TO COORDINATE THE ENERGY SMART REFRIDERATOR RECYCLING PROGRAM.

LEROY FRANA IS THE MANAGER OF NEBRASKA CITY UTILITIES AND SAYS CUSTOMERS SHOULD CONSIDER RECYCLING THEIR REFRIDGERATORS RATHER THAN THROWING THEM AWAY.

"IF THEY HAVE A REFRIDGERATOR THATS WORKING AND THAT THEY WANT TO GET RID OF, IF THEY TAKE IT TO A LANDFILL THEY WILL HAVE TO PAY A FEE TO DROP IT OFF." FRANA SAID "HERE THEY CAN ACTUALLY GET PAID FOR HAVING SOMEBODY ELSE COME BY AND PICK IT UP AND THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE TO HANDLE IT."

CUSTOMERS WILL GET PAID 35 DOLLARS FOR UP TO TWO OLD REFRIDGERATORS OR FREEZERS PER HOUSEHOLD.

FRANA SAYS THAT GETTING RID OF YOUR OLD REFRIDERATOR AND REPLACING IT WITH AN ENERGY EFFICIENT ONE CAN SAVE CUSTOMERS UP TO 125 DOLLARS A YEAR.

FOR MORE INFORMATION CUSTOMERS CAN CALL NEBRASKA CITY UTILITIES AT 873-3353.
