PENDRELL HOPES TO PUSH CLOSURE OF PARK TO END OF OCTOBER

By Nate Gonner 9/3/2013

THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF NEBRASKA CITY'S TOURISM AND COMMERCE OFFICE WOULD LIKE TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT, AFTER BEING MISREPRESENTED IN A LINCOLN JOURNAL STAR ARTICLE REGARDING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF ARBOR LODGE STATE HISTORICAL PARK.

ON FRIDAY, THE LINCOLN JOURNAL STAR PRINTED TWO ONE LINE QUOTES FROM NEBRASKA CITY TOURISM AND COMMERCE’S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TIM PENDRELL, IN REGARDS TO THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF ARBOR LODGE STATE HISTORICAL PARK.

THE QUOTES POTRAYING PENDRELL SEEING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE AS NOT A BIG DEAL, BECAUSE OF LIMITED PARKING IN THE PARK AND BECAUSE THE PARK IS USUALLY CLOSED DURING THE WINTER

PENDRELL SAYS THE CLOSURE IS A BIG DEAL AND HE HAS BEEN SCRAMBLING ALL WEEKEND TRYING TO GET A HOLD OF MEMBERS OF THE GAME AND PARKS COMMISSION AND EVEN STATE SENATORS ABOUT KEEPING THE PARK OPEN LATER THAN THE APPLE JACK CELEBRATION.

PENDRELL SAYS FROM WHAT HE HAS BEEN TOLD THE PARK WILL BE CLOSED TO VEHICLES, BUT PEOPLE CAN STILL WALK THROUGH THE PARK AFTER IT IS CLOSED.

              PENDRELL AUDIO:

PENDRELL AND OTHER CITY OFFICIALS ARE WORKING TO TRY PUSHING THE CLOSURE DATE OF ARBOR LODGE TO THE END OF OCTOBER IN ORDER TO ALLOW FOR LIVING HISTORY DAY’S TO USE THE PARK FOR THEIR YEARLY CELEBRATION.
