AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT APPROVED MONDAY NIGHT BY THE NEBRASKA CITY CITY COUNCIL MARKS THE FIRST STEP IN MAKING NEBRASKA THE FIRST STATE IN THE NATION TO ALLOW FOR ELECTRIC TRAVEL ACROSS THE ENTIRE STATE.

THE VOTE FROM THE COUNCIL WAS UNAMIOUSLY IN FAVOR OF AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE STATE OF NEBRASKA AND NEBRASKA CITY FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF ELECTRIC VEHICLE INFASTRUCTURE AND COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS AND ELECTRIC VEHICLE USE.

CITYADMINISTARTOR OF NEBRASKA CITY JOE JOHNSON IS THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE NEBRASKA CITY COUNTY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION, AND SAYS 11 TOWNS ACROSS THE NEBRASKA, INCLUDING NEBRASKA CITY, ARE WORKING TOGETHER WITH THE NEBRASKA ENVIROMENTAL TRUST TO BRING 13 CHARGEPOINT STATIONS, 12 ELECTRIC CARS, AND THREE NATUARL GAS VEHICLES TO THE STATE.

JOHNSON SAYS FILLING UP AN ELECTRIC CAR ISN’T LIKE FILLING UP YOUR CAR WITH GAS, SAYING YOU CAN ONLY TRAVEL ROUGHLY 90 MILES PER CHARGE AND REQUIRES FOUR HOURS TO BE JUICED UP.
