By Nate Gonner 8/16/2013

NEBRASKA CITY’S TOURISM AND COMMERCE OFFICE’S IS SAYING THAT MOVING A POPULAR SHOPPING TRADITION UP A WEEKEND PROVED TO BE BENEIFICIAL FOR BUSINESS OWNERS IN TOWN.

LEMON DAYS, WHICH WAS TRADITIONALLY THE SAME WEEKEND AS THE SIDNEY IOWA RODEO, WAS MOVED UP A WEEK BY THE TOURISM AND COMMERCE OFFICE TO SEE IF THEY COULD SEE EXTENDED TRAFFIC IN NEBRASKA CITY OVER TWO WEEKENDS INSTEAD OF JUST ONE.

NCTC’S ROSE RALSTIN SAYS THE BUSINESSES WHO REPORTED THE BEST SALES NUMBERS FROM LEMON DAYS WEEKEND SAID THEY BROUGHT SOME OF THEIR MERCHANDISE OUTDOORS.

RALSTIN ALSO SAID THE BUSINESSES WHO TRADITIONALLY DO WELL OVER RODEO WEEKEND DIDN’T SEE A DECREASE IN TRAFFIC EITHER.

SHE SAYS HER OFFICE IS GOING TO FIND NEW WAYS TO GROW LEMON DAYS AND SAYS THEY WILL KEEP THE SHOPPING TRADITION THE WEEK BEFORE THE RODEO FOR NEXT YEAR.
