ADA TRANSITION PLAN NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED BY JULY 2014

           NEBRASKA CITY IS IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING ALL THE TOWNS PUBLIC BUILDINGSAND PARKS AND RECREATION EQUIPMENT ACCESSIBLE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.

 

              AT MONDAY NIGHTS CITY COUNCIL MEETING, THE COUNCIL ADOPTED RESOLUTION 2604-13 WHICH STATES THE TOWN IS WORKING TOWARDS MAKING EVERY BUILDING AND RECREATION SITE IN NEBRASKA CITY ACCESSIBLE TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES,

 

              CITY ADMINISTRATOR JOE JOHNSON SAYS THE PROCESS WAS STARTED WITH RENOVATION PROJECTS TO PUBLIC BUILDINGS SUCH AS THE MORTON JAMES LIBRARY WITH THE INSTALLMENT OF AN ELEVATOR, AND THE ROWE SAFETY COMPLEX WITH SIDEWALK RAMPS AND BIGGER DOOR ACCESS.

 

              JOHNSON SAYS ONE OF THE NEXT PROJECTS WILL HAPPEN AT CITY HALL.

 

              JOHNSON AUDIO:

 

              JOHNSON ADDED FORMAL ASSESSMENTS OF EACH PUBLIC BUILDING ARE CURRENTLY UNDERWAY WITH A TRANSITION PLAN NEEDING TO BE IN PLACE BY JULY 2014.

 

            THE COUNCIL ALSO APPROVED THE FINAL PLAT FOR THE JAMES SUBDIVISION, APPROVED AN APPLICATION FOR HOUSING REHAB FUNDS, AND APPROVED ALLIXA CONSULTING TO AUDIT NEBRASKA CITY’S TELEPHONE, CELL PHONE, AND CABLE RECORDS.

 

           THE NEXT MEETING OF THE NEBRASKA CITY CITY COUNCIL WILL BE HELD MONDAY JULY 15TH BEGINNING AT 6 O’CLOCK AT CITY HALL IN TOWN.
