COOPER OFFICALS TO MEET WITH NRC IN TEXAS OVER INFRACTIONS

            OFFICIALS FROM THE NEBRASKA PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT WILL MEET WITH THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION NEXT WEEK TO DISCUSS ISSUES FOUND IN INSPECTIONS OF THE COOPER NUCLEAR STATION LOCATED IN BROWNVILLE.

 

             LARA USELDING, PUBLIC INFORMATION DIRECTOR FOR THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION, SAYS COOPER AND NPPD OFFICIALS WILL BE AT THEIR ARLINGTON, TEXAS OFFICES ON WEDNESDAY TO DISCUSS INFRACTIONS

              USELDING SAYS THE INFRACTIONS WERE HIGHLIGHTED IN THE NRC'S RECENT ANNUAL ASSESSMENT LETTER SENT TO THE STATION IN MARCH. .

 

              NPPD SPOKESMAN MARK BECKER SAYS COOPERS CHIEF NUCLEAR OFFICER OSCAR LIMPIAS HAS BEEN WORKING ON THE INFRACTIONS BY IMPLIMENTING A PROGRAM CALLED “THE ROAD TO EXCELLENCE” WHICH THEY PLAN ON DISCUSSING WITH NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION OFFICIALS NEXT WEEK.

 

              BECKER SAYS DESPITE THE ISSUES FOUND BY INSPECTORS, THE COOPER NUCLEAR STATION IS SAFE.
