SENATOR SEES POTENTIAL FOR WIND FARMS IN SE NEBRASKA

              THE STATE SENATOR FROM SYRACUSE SAYS HE SUPPORTS GIVING A TAX BREAK TO COMPAINES WANTING TO SET UP WIND FARMS IN THE STATE.

 

              IN AN INTERVIEW WITH KNCY NEWS, SENATOR DAN WATERMEIER SAYS HE HAS BEEN A HARD SELL ON DEPENDING ON WIND FOR ENERGY PURPOSES BECAUSE WIND WOULDN’T BLOW WHEN YOU NEED THE POWER AND ITS NOT BLOWING WHERE YOU NEED IT SUCH AS THE METROPOLIS’S OF OMAHA, LINCOLN, AND GRAND ISLAND.

 

              WATERMEIER SAYS HE IS STILL IN FAVOR OF THE POTENTIAL TO DEVELOP IT, AND IS IN FAVOR OF GIVING SOME TAX INCENTIVE.

              WATERMEIER SAYS NEBRASKA IS UNIQUE IN THAT THE STATE HAS PUBLIC POWER COMPANIES TAKING CARE OF OUR ENERGY AND SAYS THERE ARE PARTNERS WE NEED TO BE MINDFUL OF, BUT SAYS THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR WIND FARM GROWTH IN SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA.

 

              NEBRASKA IS LAGGING BEHIND IN PRODUCTION OF WIND ENERGY, RANKING 26TH OF THE 39 STATES THAT GENERATE IT, DESPITE HAVING THE FOURTH BEST WIND RESOURCES IN THE COUNTRY.
