By Nate Gonner 3/21/2013

NEBRASKA'S FIRST DISTRICT STATE SENATOR WILL BE SPENDING HIS WEEKEND AT VARIOUS TOWNS IN THE WESTERN PART OF HIS DISTRICT

SENATOR DAN WATERMEIER OF SYRACUSE WILL HOLD ANOTHER ROUND OF OPEN HOUSES THIS WEEKEND TO TALK WITH RESIDENTS OF THE DISTRICT ABOUT THEIR THOUGHTS ON WHATS HAPPENING IN LINCOLN THIS LEGISLATIVE SESSION.

IN AN INTERVIEW WITH KNCY NEWS, WATERMEIER SAYS HE GAINED VALUABLE INPUT FROM RESIDENTS OF NEBRASKA CITY, AUBURN, FALL CITY, AND HUMBOLT DURING HIS LAST ROUND OF OPEN HOUSES TWO WEEKS AGO.

              WATERMEIER AUDIO:

WATERMEIER WILL HOLD THREE OPEN HOUSES ON SATURDAY INCLUDING ONE IN PAWNEE CITY AT 8 O CLOCK IN THE MORNING AT THE LITTLE BROWN JUG, THEN WILL HEAD TO TECUMSEH AND BE AT FRAZIER’S CAFÉ AT 10, THEN WILL BE IN STERLING AT THE DOWNTOWN CAFÉ AT 1 O CLOCK.

HE WILL ALSO HOLD A SUNDAY OPEN HOUSE IN PALMYRA AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER STARTING AT 1 O CLOCK.

WATERMEIER ALSO TALKED ABOUT HIS PRIORITY BILL LB-308, WHICH WOULD CHANGE INCOME TAX CALCULATIONS RELATING TO THE FEDERAL ALTERNATIVE MINIMUM TAX, AS HIS PRIORTIY BILL FOR THE SESSION.

RECENTLY AMENDMENT 583 WAS ADDED TO THE MEASURE, WHICH WOULD ALLOW BUSINESSES TO HOLD A NET OPERATING LOSS FOR 20 YEARS INSTEAD OF FIVE YEARS CURRENTLY UNDER STATE LAW.

SENATOR WATERMEIER SAYS BUSINESSES WOULD BE MORE LIKELY TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS TO THEIR BUSINESS ASSETS IF THEY KNEW THEY HAD MORE TIME TO PAY OFF THE COST.
