START OF BIKE PROGRAM IS SCHEDULED FOR ARBOR DAY

               THE SECOND MARCH MEETING OF THE NEBRASKA CITY CITY COUNCIL MET MONDAY NIGHT AT CITY HALL IN TOWN.

 

              THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE MEETING WAS A PRESENTATION OF A CITY WIDE BIKE PLAN GIVEN BY RESIDENTS JANET PALMTAG AND ALAM BRECKENRIDGE.

 

              THE PRESENTATION SPELLED OUT A PLAN FOR THE CITY TO HAVE 5 SPOTS IN TOWN WHERE TOURIST AND RESIDENTS CAN PICK UP A BIKE AND RIDE THEM THROUGHOUT DOWNTOWN NEBRASKA CITY.

 

              PROPOSED SPOTS FOR BIKE RACKS AT CITY HALL, 11TH AND CENTRAL, AND MEMORIAL WAY JUST TO NAME A FEW.

 

              BRECKENRIDGE SAID AS THE PROGRAM PROGRESSES THEY WOULD LIKE TO HAVE TRAILS LEADING TO NEBRASKA CITY’S TOURIST ATTRACTIONS.

              THE PROGRAM WAS APPROVED BY THE COUNCIL AND PALMTAG AND BRECKENRIDGE ARE HOPING TO HAVE A FEW BIKES READY FOR PEOPLE TO RIDE DURING THIS YEARS ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION.

 

              OTHER AGENDA ITEMS INCLUDED THE APPROVAL OF SLUDGE APPLICATION PERMIT FOR THE CITY OF OMAHA, REDIRECTING STREET CAPITAL FUNDS FOR A PATCHING MACHINE TO NOW USE TO CONSTRUCT A STORAGE BUILDING, AND AMENDED A RESOLUTION TO THE WYUKA CEMETERY FEE SCHEDULE.

 

              THE NEXT MEETING OF THE NEBRASKA CITY CITY COUNICL IS SET FOR MONDAY APRIL 1ST BEGINNING AT 6 O'CLOCK AT CITY HALL IN TOWN.
