REIMAN MORE WORRIED ABOUT GETTING ALL CURRICULUM IN

By Nate Gonner 2/20/2013

IT IS LOOKING MORE AND MORE LIKELY THAT SCHOOLS IN THE KNCY LISTENING AREA MIGHT CANCEL ONE OR BOTH DAYS LEFT IN THE WEEK DUE TO INCLIMENT WEATHER HEADING OUR WAY.

WITH MOST SCHOOLS ALREADY HAVING TWO DAYS OFF DUE TO SNOW, SOME MIGHT WONDER HOW MANY MORE SNOW DAYS ARE BUILT INTO SCHOOLS CALENDAR BEFORE IT AFFECTS STUDENTS GETTING OUT ON TIME IN MAY.

AUBURN SUPERINTENDENT KEVIN REIMAN SAYS HIS SCHOOL DISTRICT COULD AFFORD TO MISS A FEW MORE DAYS OF SCHOOL, AND IF NEEDED TO WOULD USE MAY 9TH'S NO SCHOOL DAY FOR DISTRICT TRACK AND COULD USE IT AS A MAKE UP DAY INSTEAD.

REIMAN IS MORE CONCERNED AT THIS POINT ABOUT TEACHERS HAVING ENOUGH TIME TO GET THE ENTIRE CURRICULUM IN BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR.

             REIMAN AUDIO

REIMAN SAYS IT IS A STATE REQUIREMENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO HAVE 1,080 HOURS IN A SCHOOL YEAR AND 1,032 FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS.

NOW STAY TUNED TO KNCY FOR SCHOOL CLOSINGS AND EVENT CLOSINGS IN REGARDS TO THIS UPCOMING SNOW STORM.
