REHMEIER CURRENTLY SITS ON BENCH FOR OTOE AND CASS COUNTIES

            THE LONGTIME DISTRICT COURT JUDGE OF OTOE AND CASS COUNTY HAS ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT.

 

              2ND JUDICIAL DISTRICT JUDGE RANDALL REHMEIER HAS SENT A RESIGNATION LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE, SAYING HE WILL STEP DOWN FROM THE BENCH EFFECTIVE ON MARCH 31ST.

 

              REHMEIER BEGAN SERVING ON THE COUNTY BENCH FROM 1987 TO 1990 BEFORE BEING APPOINTED TO HIS POSITION AS DISTRICT COURT JUDGE.

 

              IN HIS RESIGNATION LETTER REHMEIER SAID “I AM PROUD TO HAVE SERVED AS A JUDGE IN THIS GREAT STATE FOR OVER 25 YEARS. THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF BEING A JUDGE ARE MANY AND I HAVE GIVEN IT MY BEST EFFORT."

 

              THE JUDICIAL RESOURCES COMMISION HAS SCHEDULED A MEETING TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT BASED ON REHMEIER’S WORKLOAD IF HIS RETIREMENT CREATES A JUDICIAL VACANCY BEFORE NAMING A SUCCESSOR.

 

              THAT MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY APRIL 2ND.
