CITY NOT HAPPY WITH CURRENT WATER SERVICE FROM PEOPLESERVICE

By Nate Gonner 1/23/2013

THE CITY OF TECUMSEH COULD SOON HAVE THERE WATER SERVICED BY THE AUBURN BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS.

LAST WEEK, THE BOARD AGREED TO A BACKUP AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF TECUMSEH, IN CASE THEIR CURRENT AGREEMENT WITH PEOPLESERIVCES FALLS THROUGH.

ACCORDING TO GENERAL MANAGER DAVE HUNTER, TECUMSEH’S AGREEMENT WITH PEOPLESERVICE RUNS OUT AT THE END OF MAY, AND IS UNCLEAR AT THIS POINT WHETHER NOT IT WILL BE RENEW.

HUNTER SAYS IF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS BECOMES THE PRIMARY OPERATOROF TECUMSEH WATER, EITHER ON JUNE 1ST OR BEFORE THEN, HE WOULD SEND A WORKER OVER FOR 55 DOLLARS AN HOUR.

HE BELIEVES THE UTILITY COMPANY CAN TAKE ON THE PROJECT, SAYING HIS STAFF WILL BE UTILIZED BETTER AND WOULDN’T BE ANY DIFFERENT FOR THE SERVICES THEY PROVIDE TO CITIES OF PERU AND BROWNVILLE CURRENTLY.
