SHEEHY: INSTIUTIONS WOULD GET INCREASE IN FEDERAL FUNDS

            THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEBRASKA SAYS STATE OFFICIALS HAVE BEEN CONCERNED FOR SEVERAL YEARS ABOUT THE AFFORDABILTY OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN NEBRASKA.

 

              IN AN INTERVIEW WITH KNCY NEWS, LT GOVERNOR RICK SHEEHY TALKED ABOUT THE TUITION FREEZE COVERED BY GOVERNOR HEINEMAN AT TUESDAY’S STATE OF THE STATE ADDRESS.

 

              SHEEHY SAYS THE TUITION FREEZE, WHICH WOULD KEEP TUITON COSTS THE SAME THROUGH THE 2014-15 SCHOOL YEAR, IS ONE WAY STUDENTS CAN BETTER AFFORD THE COST OF HIGHER EDUCATION.

 

              UNDER PROPOSED LEGISLATION, THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AND THE INSTITUTIONS APART OF THE STATE COLLEGE SYSTEMS, WHICH INCLUDES PERU STATE COLLEGE, WOULD SEE AN INCREASE IN STATE FUNDING TO COVER THE TWO YEAR PERIOD.

 

              SHEEHY SAYS HE HAS BEEN IN SHOES OF NEBRASKAN’S WHO HAVE A CHILD IN COLLEGE.
