BROWNVILLE SOON TO BE OPEN 4 HOURS, NEMAHA TO BE OPEN JUST TWO

By Nate Gonner 1/10/2013

THE MANAGER OF THE BROWNVILLE POST OFFICE AND NEWLY APPOINTED MANAGER OF THE NEMAHA POST OFFICE IN SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA IS PREPARING FOR WINDOW HOUR CHANGES AT THE TWO POST OFFICES.

IN MAY OF LAST YEAR, THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE PROPOSED THEIR POST PLAN, WHICH WOULD CUT WINDOW HOURS AT RURAL POST OFFICES DOWN FROM 8 HOURS A DAY TO AS FEW AS TWO HOURS A DAY IN SOME LOCATIONS.

JESSICA MURPHY, MANAGER OF BROWNVILLE AND NEMAHA’S POST OFFICE, SAYS SHE HAS HAD RESIDENTS INTO THE POST OFFICE ASKING ABOUT THE CHANGES AND HAS A NOTICE POSTED ON THEIR BULLETIN BOARD ABOUT THE WINDOW CHANGES.

SHE SAYS REACTION FROM THE RESIDENTS OF THE COMMUNITY HAS BEEN MOSTLY POSITIVE TO THE MOVE.
