CAUSE OF THE FIRE UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME

             THE MAYOR OF SYRACUSE SAYS HE APPRECIATES ALL THE SUPPORT OF SURROUNDING FIRE CREWS WHO HELPED BATTLE A FIRE AT THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ON SUNDAY EVENING IN BITTERLY COLD CONDITIONS.

 

              FIRE CREWS FROM SYRACUSE, NEBRASKA CITY, DUNBAR, PALMYRA AND OTOE FOUGHT THE BLAZE AT THE 102 YEAR OLD CHURCH, WHICH BEGAN JUST AFTER 6 O’CLOCK SUNDAY EVENING AND KEPT FIGHTING THE FIRE THROUGHOUT THE EARLY MORNING HOURS MONDAY IN SUB ZERO TEMPATURES.

 

              SYRACUSE MAYOR KC ORTIZ SAYS THE COMMUNITY’S REACTION TO THE FIRE HAS BEEN THAT OF SHOCK.

              ORTIZ SAYS AS FAR AS HE KNOWS, NO ONE WAS HURT AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE, BUT THE CHURCH IS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS.

 

              AT THIS TIME, THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS STILL UNKNOWN.
